A new calibration has been added to the 10-speed automatic.

Ford surprised many by revealing a 7.3-liter basic single cam, big-block pushrod engine as a new addition in the Superduty family of trucks. The Fast Lane Truck team tested the mill at the rear wheels on the dyno and discovered that it produces a healthy 358 horsepower (267 Kilowatts) as well as 407 pound-feet (552 Nms) These numbers are impressive for a naturally-aspirated unit, but we may have something for you.

Whipple just announced that it has begun work on a supercharger for the eight-cylinder engine. The 3.0-liter supercharger bolts directly to the engine and produces 700 horsepower (522 kW) with 750 lb-ft (1.017 Nm).

This kit includes much more than the supercharger with twin-scroll. The kit also includes a huge air-to-water intercooler and large Crusher air system. Whipple claims that the kit will deliver “incredible power across all rpm ranges while maintaining industry-leading driveability.”

Whipple states that the factory 10-speed manual gearbox was recalibrated to maintain the engine’s peak torque range at almost all rpm points. This is nearly impossible with aftermarket tools. The transmission’s offroad, tow and eco modes are still available despite the new mapping. According to Road, the supercharger kit will be available for sale in the third quarter this year at a cost of $7,895, as per Track.
