It may debut in the second half of this year.
Our spy photographers have captured the Porsche 911 high-riding Porsche 911 for the first time in over a year. We haven’t learned much about the new 911 variant since then. There is very little information coming from Porsche. These shots show the new 911 at the Nurburgring for further testing before a possible debut later in the year.
Porsche has not done much to conceal the car. These photos prove that again. The taller suspension is difficult to conceal. This increases the wheel arch gap of the car for greater suspension travel. Porsche doesn’t want to conceal some of this, so there’s odd black cladding on the front and back fascias. The back is adorned with large oval exhaust tips. To enhance its off-road appeal, the coupe has chunkier fender flares.
We don’t know much about the car, such as its name. It will likely be called the 911 Dakar by Porsche when it debuts. However, the 911 Safari is an option, though it seems unlikely. It is still unknown what the powertrain will be. Although the base model could be a Carrera 4S, all-wheel drive is also possible. The current 4S is powered by a 3.0-liter flat-six twin-turbocharged engine that produces 443 horsepower (329 Kilowatts) as well as 390 pound-feet (528 Newton meters) of torque.
Porsche is currently updating its entire 911 lineup. The new 911 Dakar could also be available with other changes Porsche is making to the lineup. New fascias and powertrain tweaks will be seen, as well as other updates that could make their way into the new 911 model. We don’t know whether Porsche will make this a limited-run or permanent model. We don’t know what Porsche will do with the performance figures. We don’t know how wild Porsche will go with its performance figures.
