It’s crazy!
The current generation Nissan GT-R has been in production for around 11 years. Nissan isn’t even thinking about replacing it. We don’t expect a debut in the next two years, as Nissan is still busy with releasing special editions that will keep interest in the current model alive. Private owners all over the globe are willing to spend thousands of dollars to modify GT-Rs and give us different versions of Godzilla. Here’s one of our favorite examples in recent months.
One of only a few GT-Rs with carbon fiber bodywork. All exterior parts are made of pure carbon fiber including the doors, fenders and bumpers. We are curious about what would happen if there is an accident with that amount of carbon fiber. Let’s hope so!
The GT-R is 310 pounds lighter than the stock GT-R (140 kg) with all carbon fiber components. At the current exchange rate, the total cost of the tuning project was approximately PS60,000. That’s roughly $76,430. It means that the owner paid less than $246 per pound.
You can hear the car’s incredible exhaust note if you look at the video after the 7:30 mark. It’s also made entirely of carbon fiber, as you probably guessed.
Although we are not here to judge this project, it is in our opinion much more interesting than many of the modified GT-Rs. You can drive a GT-R with 1,000 horsepower (746-kilowatts) but it is possible to reduce the weight and improve the overall dynamics. This is even more important.
