Mercedes has revealed that it is testing the AMG GT Coupe around the Nurburgring. The new two-door was first seen earlier in the year. While it hasn’t lost much of its camouflage during the past few months, we have seen several trims. We don’t know when Mercedes will reveal the full model.

New photos show that the AMG GT Coupe continues to sport a lot of camouflage. However, it appears as though there is a little less at the rear. Mercedes was not hiding anything under the tight-fitting wrap. The AMG GT Coupe, the fixed-roof brother to the SL Roadster, is now available. The grille of the AMG GT Coupe is lower and the headlights are in a different position. The car’s rear looks very sleek with a round rear end and quad exhaust tubes poking through its rear diffuser. These pipes likely attach to the 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 which also powers the new SL.

The SL’s engine produces 469 horsepower (350 kilowatts) as well as 516 poundfeet (706 Newton-meters). It also has a potent 577 hp (590 kW) and 590 lbft (890 Nm) respectively. It is not clear which Mercedes moniker will be attached to each output, or whether Mercedes will extract more power from the engine.

All indications point to Mercedes combining its 4.0-liter V8 with an electric motor. This is what it did with the GT 63 S E Performance. These models produce 831 horsepower (620 kW) as well as 1,033 lb/ft (1,400Nm) of torque. It’s not difficult to imagine similar performance from the AMG GT Coupe.
