This sure does look like the RX-Vision concept.
It’s important to remember, before we dive into this exciting discovery, that there are many unrealized ideas in the world of automotive Patents. Many times, patents are issued to protect ideas for future projects. This is because rotary enthusiasts are passionate about Mazda sport cars. But, we recommend that you remain cautiously optimistic. This patent filing is not a confirmation of any information.
However, it’s not hard to see why the patent filings this week deserve eyebrows. These patent filings are very technical and refer to rear suspension and vehicle body structures. These visual drafts include close-up drawings and explanations of the various beams, frames, and how they are designed to handle side-loads as well as front-rear loads.
It’s pretty standard stuff for most people, with the exception of two images. This image at the top is clearly the keeper as it shows the backside a sports coupe. The patent filing also says so. In the technical talk for patent number 2021-112926A (P2021-112926A), the following passage is translated into English.
This is a clear statement, but it does not mean that the proposed sports car will use an internal combustion engine. We do want to draw your attention to another patent illustration that relates to strength and structure. The tunnel runs longitudinally through the middle of the car, where you would expect to find the driveshaft. It flares out towards the front, where a cogged transmission would be.
It’s worth noting that we have seen patent filings by Mazda for a possible future Mazda sports car. Two years ago, we published designs for the front a possible Mazda sport car. These patent filings, however, are actually dated January 16, 2020. Although it doesn’t require a genius to piece together the pieces, there have been many changes in the world since then.
This is the question that will make you a millionaire. We are now looking at the beginning stages of a Mazda RX-9. We are now looking at the early stages of a Mazda RX-9. There is no doubt that the backside sketches of these patents are similar to the RXVision concept from 2015.
This is a sign of some sort of electrification. The high battery weight and the immediate torque of an electric motor demand extra strength in the chassis. We know that the future is electric. The design calls for a combustion engine. However, we have heard that a rotary, if used in a vehicle production, would be a small unit to charge the batteries. We use if as initial plans to introduce the rotary in the MX-30 are on indefinite hold. As we mentioned in the beginning, this rapid pace of patent activity could be Mazda simply securing an invention.
It’s still interesting to see Mazda at least working on a sports car, even though it’s a concept. It will be interesting to see what the next few years bring.
