The G70 suits well with the G80
The Genesis G70 will be getting a major facelift in model year 2021. Information about this luxury compact sedan has been scarce up until now. This is understandable, as current market conditions dictate a slight slowdown in new vehicle launches.
However, Genesis did not back down when the G80 made its online debut last month and we expect the Korean luxury marque to do so for the smaller sedan sibling.
While we’re on the topic of the G80: How would the G70 change if it wore the G80’s sharp suit? Korea’s AtchaCars spent time redesigning the G70 with the latest styling.
The G70 rendering has the larger grille and split headlights that were first seen on the Genesis GV80. This is largely due to the large intakes and enlarged lower grille.
These are the main features of AtchaCars’s additions to the G70, but they give us an idea about what the G70’s facelift will look like if it adopts the split headlamp configuration.
Although we said that information regarding the 2021 G70 was scarce, reports indicate that it will still be equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter gasoline engine. However, it is not clear if Genesis will be using GV80’s twin-turbo 3.5L engine instead of the current 3.3L twin turbo V6 or if a manual transmission will remain an option. We are also considering a wagon version, but we will not be rushing to make any decisions.
The mid-cycle facelift for the Genesis G70 is expected to be completed sooner than expected. We will now have to wait to hear more from the Korean luxury marque.
