More models are receiving the GR treatment.
From February 2019, Toyota UK tweeted that it was planning to introduce high performance variants of all models. Since then, the Gazoo Racing portfolio has grown to include a variety of models. It builds upon the extensive GR lineup in Japan which includes everything from minivans to Prius.
Toyota has created a three-tier GR lineup. The GR Sport is at the bottom. It receives mainly visual upgrades and minimal hardware tweaks. The GR is the next tier, featuring true performance models like the GR Yaris or GR Supra. On top will be the GRMN cars. The GR is, as many of you will be aware, a true performance model such as the GR Yaris and the GR Supra. On top are GRMN cars. GRMN clothing was available for Yaris of previous generations . The GR Sport treatment was given to the Fortuner SUV, and Hilux pickup truck in August. Now the Corolla Cross is undergoing the same changes in Taiwan, where it made its debut. The compact crossover is a GR Sport so it doesn’t need any extra drive. However, Toyota has made some adjustments to the suspension and the steering to make it feel sportier. You can get the Corolla Cross GR Sport with a naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter gasoline engine that produces a powerful 138 horsepower (103 kilowatts), and 127 pound feet (172 Newton-meters). This torque is delivered to the front axle via a continuously variable transmission.
A hybrid version is also available with a combined power output of 122 horsepower. This one, too, sends power to front wheels via a CVT. Side note: The JDM Corolla Cross, which was launched yesterday, is now available in a hybrid+AWD combination. Toyota will soon introduce the GR Sport version in other markets. In the meantime, you can get the gas-only version in Taiwan starting at $34,100 at current exchange rates.
