Tesla has become the first automaker to accept bitcoin for vehicle purchases. Elon Musk confirmed this by tweeting the following text: “You now can buy a Tesla using bitcoin.” Although it’s too early to know, it appears that more automakers will soon accept bitcoin as a payment method.
Although it has yet to make a decision, it said it will evaluate whether bitcoin payments might be of interest to its customers. Although the manufacturer does not intend to invest in bitcoin, Mary Barra, CEO of GM, stated that GM will monitor customers’ demand for cryptocurrency as a method of payment for cars and services.

A new report by Reuters suggests that General Motors may be open to accepting bitcoin as a payment method. The publication claims that the manufacturer will evaluate the situation based upon the demand. This is a very vague statement at the moment, but it does suggest that GM has not yet said ‘no’.
