Chevrolet Silverado EV was expected to be revealed at the next event by the automaker.
People, we’re not done yet. More companies will be leaving CES 2022 as the Omicron version of SARS-CoV-2 (the coronavirus responsible for Covid-19) spreads. General Motors is the latest company to announce that it will no longer be attending in-person events. To debut its forthcoming Chevrolet Silverado Electric Vehicle, the automaker had planned to use technology and electronics show .
Stuart Fowle, GM spokesperson, shared an official statement by the company in an email to motor1.com. The statement states that CES is an important platform for technology and that GM will continue to share significant company news, including the unveiling of the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
Mary Barra, the company CEO, will also be absent from the show. She was scheduled to speak on GM’s future electrification plans. Fowle, however, was quick to point out that very little has changed at the company about its first electric pickup truck. However, it would now be digital.
Fowle stated that all our news plans and timings will remain the same, even the Silverado. Fowle stated that there will be no physical presence of people or vehicles in Las Vegas.
Waymo, an autonomous research company, will not be participating in CES 2022. According to Reuters , 42 exhibitors have been cancelled by other technology companies such as Google, Intel and Lenovo. CES will still go ahead as planned. Show representatives stated that the remaining 7 percent of exhibitors were no longer present.
CES attendees will need to mask and verify their vaccinations. Covid-19 testing will be available.
