General Motors Will Not Participate in The 2022 SEMA Show

Chevrolet spokesperson confirms the sad news.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association Show (SEMA) has been a part of the long-awaited list of motoring events in America. Show attendees include automakers who want to show off what their cars can do beyond just the showrooms.

General Motors has decided to abandon the 2022 SEMA Show. Muscle Cars and Trucks first noticed that the show’s floorplan uploaded online didn’t include Chevrolet except for one Texas Chevy dealer. This is a clear sign that Chevrolet has confirmed the matter.

GM has decided not to take part in the 2022 SEMA Show. We have always been inspired by the SEMA Show, and accessories as well as performance parts are an integral part of our business.

At this time, it is not clear what the reason was for Chevrolet’s withdrawal from this year’s SEMA Show. The American automaker isn’t the only one to withdraw from the event.

SEMA announced that Ford and Honda will not be displaying their vehicles at this year’s event. The main reason for the pullout was “a change in corporate strategy”.

Ford provided an official statement to motor1 regarding the matter. It stated that it is improving its approach to the annual event to “better reach and highlight how customers personalize their Ford cars today and tomorrow.” The Blue Oval stated that it will continue to be present at the 2022 SEMA Show through selected displays and online.

Honda has not yet issued an official statement. Honda, however, didn’t mention Acura as a participant. It remains to be seen if Honda’s luxury arm will join the 2023 Acuraintegra at front lines.
