The wagon will not be equipped with an electrified powertrain.
Dominique Boesch is the European boss of the Genesis brand. He predicts that the G70 Shoting Brake will outsell the current sedan model in Europe. He also expects that the GV70 crossover will be the automaker’s bestselling product in the Old Continent. Genesis is firmly focusing its G70 Shooting Brake on Europe. The brand has not yet indicated that it will sell the model in the USA. Boesch stated that the body shape was a perfect example of how committed we are towards Europe.
Boesch also revealed G70 Shooting Brake’s powertrain lineup. Genesis had not previously revealed it fully. A gasoline-powered turbocharged four-cylinder of 2.0-liter capacity will be available, as well as a turbodiesel of 2.2-liter capacity. The twin-turbo, 3.3-liter V6 with 365 horsepower (272-kilowatt) that is available in the G70 sedan in America is “under discussion,” Boesch told Automotive News Europe. Genesis has not yet revealed pricing for the G70 Shooting Brake Europe. Boesch said that the price is comparable to similar-sized wagons made by German competitors. G70 Shooting Brake will not be electrified. Genesis has two electric vehicles in the works for those looking to be greener: the GV60, and the G80.
The G70 Shooting Brake actually measures exactly the same length as the sedan, with a length at 4,685 millimeters (184.4inches) and an axle width of 2,835 millimeters (11.6inches). The extended roof makes the cargo area 40 percent larger than the four-door.
This summer, the G70 Shooting Brake will be available in Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Genesis plans to increase availability to other European markets.
