It will debut in 2022 or later this year.
Genesis will launch its first ever all-electric SUV later in the year. According to a February report, it will be called GV60. It will be based on the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and a few future EVs from Hyundai-Kia Genesis. It’s only been in heavy camouflage, but we have a new rendering that will give you a better view.
The Motor.es virtual drawing of the GV60 shows a realistic preview of the zero emission crossover. It is a crossover-style hatch-like vehicle with a low profile and sloped roofline.
Unofficial information suggests that the GV60 will launch as an entry-level luxury electric vehicle from Genesis, riding on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform. Asia Times reported wireless charging capabilities, but we will take that part of the rumors very seriously.
The GV60 is not the first EV crossover from Genesis, but there isn’t any official word yet from Genesis. It could be launched next year, but there are also counter-arguments. Last year’s patent filing indicated that several other high-riding EVs were also in development. These could be eligible for the GV70e and GV80e monikers.
The E-GMP architecture of Hyundai supports batteries that provide up to 310 miles (500 km) of range. You can also charge your battery with energy in just five minutes for up to 62 miles (100 km) of range.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 production EV, which was launched late last month, is the first to use the platform. It was retro-styled and has a huge range of 298 miles (480 km).
