Other tech updates include engine start using only fingerprints.
The Genesis GV60 is a conversation starter. It’s up to you whether you prefer the initial attention-grabbing yellow shade or the staler White. Perhaps you like its all-black color, which hides the polarizing accents on its body.
We must not forget that this is Genesis’ first luxury crossover electric car, and will be a benchmark in the Korean marque’s push to electrification. This offensive includes tech toys that will draw buyers to the brand.
Genesis has just announced a facial recognition system to help improve vehicle control.
The “Face Connect” technology will initially be available for Genesis GV60, but will gradually be rolled out to other models. It allows the EV recognize human faces and can open and close doors with no need to use a smart key. The vehicle’s settings will be similar to those found in the Subaru Outback. They include the driver’s seat, steering wheel, side mirrors and infotainment settings.
Genesis boasts a Near-Infra-Red camera (NIR), which ensures that face recognition systems work under low light conditions – yes, even night.
This new technology is designed to free drivers from the hassle of carrying their keys everywhere. The smart key can be left in the car and you can go outside to do some outdoor activities, locking the car. You can then return and unlock the car with your face. You might not accidentally hit your face with anything so that the car can still recognize you.
Genesis also announced a “Fingerprint authentication system” which allows users to use their fingerprints to unlock the car’s doors.
The automaker expanded the range of its OTA software update. OTA software updates will now include the settings for the infotainment, navigation, digital cluster and HUD.
