It would be a full-size SUV.
Genesis has finally entered the SUV market with the stunning GV80. This all-new luxury SUV is a mid-size SUV. This is part of the brand’s plan to offer six models by 2021. Although plans for 2021 are still unknown, a report by indicates that Genesis is looking at a full-size SUV similar to the GV90. This would be comparable to the BMW X7 or Mercedes GLS.
The report states that executives are currently examining whether the brand should enter the full-size SUV market. Although it is not clear when such a model could be available, it is likely that it will not happen soon. Genesis will be concentrating on six models for now while it prepares a third, all electric SUV for a 2021 reveal.
Genesis offers three sedans – G70, G80 and G90 – and one SUV – GV80 – that will be available in the U.S. later in the year. The GV70 is another option. One sport remains, which could be an electric crossover or another vehicle entirely. Genesis revealed six models at the GV80 unveiling, some of which were in silhouettes that we have never seen before. One model looked like a sleek coupe, which we believe is inspired by the Essentia concept. The other was a sleek hatchback. It wasn’t possible to see a larger SUV.
Genesis would be able to compete with German luxury carmakers by adding a large SUV. They are the benchmark for luxury. Genesis has succeeded in aiming at German-level luxury and features, and exceeding those expectations.
Genesis has been making deliberate moves up until now. Even though it took a while to produce an SUV, the brand is continuing to grow from a luxury brand to a brand that can compete with others. The GV80 SUV is a positive step in this direction. Genesis could make the GV90 SUV larger and more competitive in luxury segments. It could also be a flagship model.
