800 Opel police cars were ordered for the German state Hesse. Here is the first Opel Insignia Sports Tourer set that was delivered to the police department.
It is not unusual to see police cars in Germany that are supplied by Germany’s top-three premium brands, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
This time, however, the police in Hesse have chosen something a bit cheaper but still as local: the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer.
The German government has announced the purchase of 800 patrol cars from Opel’s Special Vehicles unit. We see the first 25 delivered here. The 75 remaining vehicles will be delivered before the end the year.
The Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, which was used for police duty, comes with some special equipment including extra LED rear warning lights and digital and analog radio receivers. There is also a pull-out tray that can be modified to accommodate a canine cage.
