Or don’t…
Motor1.com archives show Mercedes introduced the three-pointed illuminated star logo in February 2013., and now the company offers customers another way to show their support for the brand. The LED Projector AMG Emblem is now available for all A-Class models, from the hatchback to the SUV luxobarge GLS.
It can be ordered at the time you purchase the vehicle or retrofitted by replacing the factory-installed entry light at the bottom of your front doors. Mercedes-Benz’ star can replace the logo of Mercedes-AMG, which depicts an apple tree in the river, that symbolises the company’s headquarters at Affalterbach. This will match the flashy front grille. Mercedes claims that its star badge, which is a symbol of the company’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany, is “possibly” the most well-known trademark in the world.
The door-mounted LED projector lamp is only available to cars with appropriate door lighting packages that include the above mentioned entrance lights. For a long time, fancy door sills featuring either “Mercedes-Benz”, or “AMG”, lettering that lights up when you open the doors are available.
For those who love the most luxurious Mercedes models, there is a good chance Maybach’s double-M logo will soon be available. The illuminated Maybach name is already on the doors of the S650 Cabriolet which was limited to 300 units (75 in the United States).
We aren’t big fans of this gimmick but there appears to be a market in this type of optional equipment, taking into consideration that more mainstream automakers like Skoda offer such a “feature”.
