It will be auctioned, with an estimated value of $600,000.
Mercedes created a unique SLS AMG GT3 in April 2015 to support the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. This car was the 100 th example and raised EUR250,000 for the foundation. Fast forward to August 2018 and Mercedes is auctioning off an AMG GT3 for the same foundation. The German automaker is one of its founding members.
The GT3 Laureus, a track-only machine that has never been raced, will be up for grabs at RM Sotheby’s within a week of tomorrow’s Monterey auction. It is expected to sell for anywhere from $400,000 to $600,000. The special race car was built to celebrate AMG’s 50th year. It will be available for sale immediately without reserve. AMG’s 18-inch AMG forged wheels are paired with a six-speed competition-spec gearbox, ensuring incredible performance on the track.
This Mercedes AMG GT3 is unique because of its chrome paint job that has a mirror-like reflection and a multitude of carbon fiber body parts. It has a performance exhaust system that does not include mufflers. The old-school V8 should sound absolutely amazing once it is revved.
The interior of the AMG GT3 chassis number 50 has seen many changes. In addition to the carbon fiber accents, the racecar now features a matte black finish for its exposed chassis and passenger seat (yes you can ride shotgun in this) for an even greater visual impact.
Since it is all for a good cause, we hope the machine will sell for much more than the estimated price at the auction house. The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation was established in 2000. It is active in more 40 countries around the globe and currently participates in over 100 projects that support children who are economically disadvantaged. Mercedes contributes EUR1 per kilometer that the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport race cars cover in the GT3 series.
