This is very frightening.
Would you want to travel in a car that has a nest southern yellowjackets? Although it may seem like a terrible idea even with a protective suit, the men in this video are experts. The stunt almost looks fun.
Bees and Cars
This earlier video (below), gives a better view. It is located in a Chevrolet Malibu. It is almost as tall as the dashboard on the passenger side. The hive is also hanging from the roof. The yellowjackets seem to be ignoring the driver’s seat. Evidently, they don’t like driving. It’s almost the same situation in the back, where the nest is at the level of both the seats and the floor.
The Malibu’s owner thought that the car was full honey bees so he contacted Stinger Creations, who made this video. This was the right decision considering the ongoing problem with the bee colony collapse. The person was wrong, however, as yellowjackets took over the car.
According to Stinger Creations videos, most of the work involved in getting rid of the nest is dismantling it. We would love to see a video of the interior after the removal of the Malibu’s hive.
The video below shows the danger these insects can pose. Although the southern yellowjacket can be venomous but not deadly, a single sting is not fatal. One worker can attack multiple times and these videos demonstrate how hundreds, if not thousands, could infest a person at one time. A hive this large could become deadly if it is not protected.
