Before fluids are added, it weighs in at 1,150 kg (2,535 lb).

While electric performance cars may be the future, that does not mean that the traditional, conventionally-powered sports car will go extinct. The contrary. Ginetta The company is trying to show that the tried-and-true formula still works in 2019, and their supercar is for people who aren’t yet convinced about electrification.

The heart of the yet to be named creation is a compact, lightweight 6.0-liter V8 motor that produces 600 horsepower and 520 pound feet (705 Newton-meters), of torque. The engine’s eight-cylinder unit is paired with a Ginetta-designed sequential six-speed gearbox, and a differential that is linked to it through a carbon-fiber tailshaft.

Carbon fiber was used to make the tub chassis and body panels. This helped to keep weight to an impressively low 1,150 kg (2,535 lb dry), despite it being Ginetta’s largest road car. Williams’ wind tunnel has created a body for the front-engined supercar that boosts aero and generates 376 kilograms of downforce at 100 km/h (161 kph), almost equal to the LMP3 race car. The cargo volume for this car is huge, at 675 liters (23.8 cubes).

Ginetta intends to start production in the second half of 2019 and begin customer deliveries in January 2020. We’ll find out the name of the supercar next week at the Geneva Motor Show, where the Leeds-based marque also will reveal the price tag. At current exchange rates, it will cost less than PS400,000.

Ginetta is making its official debut today. However, they have already received 14 orders. This is plenty to keep them busy considering the 20 units it will produce in the first year. At full capacity, the car will produce 30-50 units annually.
