If there is enough interest, 24 could be made.
Enzo Ferrari was a young man who wanted to race and started building cars. You could say that Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus follows a similar route. The niche company is testing its SGC007 LMH and preparing for the 2021 World Endurance Championships (WEC), and has proposed a road-legal version, the 007S. This sounds absolutely insane.
SCG took to social media recently for the announcement. The 007S will be linked directly to the race car. However, some modifications would be required for public streets. SCG doesn’t specify the exact nature of the changes, but it does state that the vehicle would carry three passengers and the driver would be in the middle. This is similar to a certain McLaren supercar from 1990s. It will also have no less than 1,400 horsepower (1.044 kilowatts) as well as a mere 2,800 pound, which is comparable to the wildly insane SSC Tuatara in its low-power setting.
SCG claims that the 007S will have adjustable suspension, which can be adjusted at the track to keep in line with its roots as a race car. The car will have built-in pneumatic lifts that can quickly raise the car for changing to race tires. As long as the hypercar’s 1,400 horsepower is maintained under control, that’s possible. You can get driver assistance like stability control and traction.
SCG claims the car will be legal in the U.S., and likely could become legal for other markets. The announcement states that this is “what is possible”, so a road-going model of the 007S is not a guaranteed deal. Each of the 24 units will be built at $2.3 million each. However, orders must be placed before construction can begin. SCG is taking deposits, but they are fully refundable if required orders are not met.
Although it sounds like a lot of stars must align before this can occur, SCG isn’t static. Two 007 LMH race cars are in the flesh , with another one currently on-track testing. Although it is not yet clear if the company will have ready for Spa’s 2021 WEC race, SCG is expected at LeMans in August.
