GM Design Creates Small Chevy Hatchback in Latest Rendering

It is refreshing to see a smaller car than a crossover.

It’s no surprise that SUVs and Crossovers have taken control of the automotive industry. These high-riding vehicles are more popular than the compact, low-riding ones. This is a business decision and it’s understandable.

However, this doesn’t mean people (like me) aren’t interested in the SUV trend. We are happy to see that GM still considers the minority when it comes to its car lineup.

This small hatchback rendering was released by General Motors Design via its official Instagram account. Below is an embedded post:

The Chevrolet Hatchback is not a Bow Tie model. It is, however, in line with the current styling of Chevy crossovers such as the Blazer or Trailblazer. We will be focusing more on the former with its distinct wheel design.

This could be the future small car from the automaker. Although we don’t know the answer, what we do know is that this sketch will most likely be a low-slung, great-looking hatchback, regardless of its unrealistic proportions.

Brian Malczewski created the rendering. Based on the signature on this image, it could be an older sketch from 2014. This is just speculation.

Malczewski, GM’s lead exterior designer, is also the reason. Malczewski is the lead exterior designer at GM. If you have any questions about the GMC Hummer EEV pickup or the SUV’s design, you will know who to call.

All jokes aside, let’s hope that the hatchback makes it to production. Although that seems like a pipe dream at this stage. Maybe a future Chevy electric vehicle will feature this design as shown by the hashtag in the Instagram post.
