Cadillac is no longer GM’s bestselling luxury product.
General Motors offers a healthy number of luxury brands, with Cadillac being the most popular – up to this year. According to figures released in part by GM and a report by Automotive News , GMC Cadillac has been outsold in the first nine months, a lot of credit to the AT4 and Denali trims that are almost available across the range.
Notable: Denali and AT4 trims make up 40 percent of GMC’s sales figures and are on their way to representing half of the marque’s volume, according to Duncan Aldred vice president of global Buick & GMC.
GMC has enjoyed its largest retail market share since 15 years ago with the AT4 and Denali trims.
This is despite the fact the average transaction price for AT4 and Denali is 30% higher than the rest of the industry. Aldred stated that customers pay on average $57,218 to purchase a Denali, and $53,989 to buy an AT4, which is higher than European luxury brands like BMW, Audi and Jaguar.
AT4 and Denali’s sales successes went against the grain. The pandemic caused a decline in U.S. sales for the first nine months. GMC saw a 16 percent drop in sales due to reduced fleet orders and inventory shortages.
Sierra trucks saw an 8.8 percent increase. The rest of the full-size pickups on the market saw an 8.8 percent drop. The sales of Chevy declined by 17 percent, while Cadillac and Buick saw a 25 percent drop in sales.
