These crabs are fond of Hummer’s CrabWalk mode.
LeBron James, the spokesperson for the GMC Hummer EV shines the spotlight on the vehicle’s CrabWalk mode in a new ad. This humorous commercial allows thousands of crabs to show their support for the system.
The ad begins with a yellow crab climbing up a rock and then there are many red crabs emerging from the water in the background. Missy Elliott’s Get Your Freak On starts playing. These clever crustaceans arrive in towns and wait until an intersection is clear before crossing the road.
The herd is seen walking through a shopping area, where they are surprised to see a server bring a tower of two-tiered cooked shrimp to a table. A runner is also distracted by the crabs, which can travel across a pool and interupt a dog on a walk.
Finally, the Hummer Electric Vehicle (EV) is reached by the crustaceans. LeBron is riding in the electric pickup. LeBron smiles at the camera and activates CrabWalk mode. Both the front and rear wheels move in the same direction. The driver drives off, and the crabs raise the claws to celebrate.
GMC describes CrabWalk as using Hummer EV’s four wheel steering to increase maneuverability in certain situations, such as when driving diagonally. Tom Moloughney, one of our Inside EVs colleagues, wrote.
The CrabWalk feature is so strange because it moves the vehicle both sideways and forward. It isn’t gradual. The vehicle “slides” in the opposite direction of your steering wheel. My first instinct was to stop it to process the directional movement.
CrabWalk is not meant to be used for driving down long roads like I was. CrabWalk is meant to help you get out of tight situations – and I can see how it could do that.
A large number of crabs can take over a town. Christmas Island in Australia is known for its annual migration , where millions of them leave the forests to go to the ocean.
Although deliveries of the Hummer Evo EV are slow, they are currently underway. The company only sent one Hummer EV to a dealer in Q4 2021. GMC has 59,000 reservations for the electric truck.
