This could be the long-awaited production model. Or is this just another prototype camouflaged?
After months of teasing and many renderings and spy photos, the new Toyota Supra was finally revealed in sheet metal. Possibly. Maybe. Toyota Europe, in a tweet today, stated that the Supra would be displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in U.K. next Wednesday. The caption said, “#ToyotaSupra has returned.” A90. A90.
It’s not clear if we will see the production model or just a camouflaged prototype, but fingers crossed. We hope to hear from Toyota soon about the details of either one. Some version of the Supra will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, July 12th.
We already know that the coupe will come in two versions. The Supra will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged, BMW-sourced inline-six that produces 335 horsepower (250kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (369 Newton-meters). Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer, confirmed that a more powerful GRMN model would eventually be added to the range.
The Supra’s interior will have a digital instrument panel ( as seen in these spy photos), along with other standard tech. A head-up display, driver assistance suite, and navigation are all expected to be standard. Toyota will reportedly use BMW’s iDrive infotainment systems, but with a distinctive look that is different from its German counterpart.
According to recent rumors, the US-spec Supra is expected to cost $63,500. It will be around 3,300 pounds (or 1,497 kilograms) and can sprint up to 60 miles an hour (96 km per hour) in 4.5 seconds.
