Google Maps Detour Leaves Nearly 100 Drivers Trapped In An Empty Field

The narrow dirt road was made muddy by rain.

Technology can be both a blessing or a curse. We rely more on technology than ever before, thanks to the abundance of computers in our pockets. Over-reliance can lead to headaches. This is exactly what nearly 100 Colorado drivers experienced earlier this week. A car accident on the road to Denver International Airport led Google Maps a detour for drivers who couldn’t or didn’t want it to wait. Many were trying to reach the airport. The recent rains had made the narrow dirt road through an empty field muddy.

According to CNN cars started sliding around before getting stuck, creating another traffic jam. It was this time in an empty field, with no alternative routes. Connie Monsees, a woman who spoke with the news network, stated that she was going to pick her husband up at the airport. Monsees, stuck in traffic, searched Google Maps for a detour. After finding one, she followed Google’s instructions. She found the dirt road and saw other people using it so she decided to continue on.

Monsees was one lucky person. Her vehicle’s all-wheel drive enabled her to navigate the road, picking up two others who were also heading to the airport. Her car was damaged in the accident, and she lost the liner at the front of her passenger seat.

Google stated in a statement that it considers many factors when determining routes and pointed out that the dirt road was not marked as private. Google acknowledged that drivers can be faced with more problems due to unforeseeable circumstances, such as weather. Google concluded that all drivers should follow local laws and be attentive while driving.

It doesn’t require a large military force if our AI-powered robot rulers wish to eradicate humans. Instead, tell us where to find it and we’ll follow.
