Lewis Hamilton, a three-time Formula 1 champion, was considered a candidate to be the new owner for the 1965 Ford Mustang owned by Ken Block, a professional rally driver and stunt driver.
Hamilton already owns a McLaren P1 as well as a Pagani Zonda. According to Auto Motor und Sport, Hamilton expressed an interest in purchasing the so-called Mustang Hoonicorn by Block. This Mustang was used to film the Gymkhana 7 episode “Wild in the Streets of Los Angeles”.
Block apparently was not ready to part ways with the finely tuned vehicle, as he increased its price so much that Hamilton never called again.
Block confirmed that Lewis Hamilton wanted to purchase the Mustang from him to AM. “When he heard about the price, he lost interest.”
Block stated that he would not trade one of his racing cars to make a supercar. Block asked, “Why should I pay a few hundred thousand dollars to buy a car slower than my rally car?”
The Mustang Hoonicorn was designed by ASD Motorsports, and is based upon a 1965 Mustang. The engine is a 6.7-liter Roush Yates, generating 845 horsepower and 720 pounds of torque. It is linked to a six speed manual transmission and a Sadev all wheel-drive system.
