Hennessey says there's no room for a V8 in the Ford GT

It didn’t even make it to the final cut. Literally.

Hennessey is the most likely American tuner to alter a $500,000 supercar. The Texas-based aftermarket gurus have done some amazing things to a variety of cars. They even made a Raptor V8 and called it a VelociRaptor. Hennessey’s bizarre creations have attracted the attention of many, including Post Malone (hip-hop artist). He bought his own VelocRaptor 6×6.

It appears that the tuning giant will not be touching the Ford GT anytime soon, at least not in the supercar’s engine compartment.

According to Motor Authority John Hennessey, a V8 engine won’t fit in the Ford GT. Hennessey is a GT owner so his opinion would be most relevant, especially if he has one in his garage.

Hennessey says there's no room for a V8 in the Ford GT

He said that the Ford GT’s biturbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 ticks all the boxes in terms of aesthetics and driving experience. He believes a V8 would increase that performance even more, but it is not feasible. He also pointed out that it is difficult to fit a large V8 into the engine bay due to GT’s design cues.

He could, but would have to modify the GT’s bodywork extensively to be able to complete that difficult task. This would be, to put it mildly, outrageous. He told Motor Authority that Hennessey would not be able to do it for less than a million dollars.

The Ford GT is a powerful supercar with 647 horsepower and 550 pounds-feet from its V6 engine. The Ford GT’s engineers and designers could have used a V8 to develop it, but they chose to use a force-inducted V6 instead. It’s because they want to win the Le Mans again.
