The V8’s 5.0-liter engine sounds amazing.
It’s not just numbers on a speedometer that gives you the feeling of speed. It is the culmination of many sensory inputs that combine to send adrenaline through your veins. You must be near – in the driver’s chair or at the catch line at a racetrack. Distance reduces excitement and removes one from the emotional exploitation that speed can have on the soul. As you accelerate, you must be able to see the blurred scenery around you. As the car whizzes past, you must be close enough to it that it is difficult to see from your surroundings. Speed is not a satisfying experience if it’s not immersive.
It’s this feeling that Hennessey Performance has captured in a new video. Texas tuning company Hennessey Performance has created a 2018 Ford Mustang Gt with a 460-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8. That is an impressive amount of power – enough to propel the Pony Car from a standstill to 60 mph in just four seconds. Although it’s not a great performance, the video shows only a small portion of it. We can only see the digital dashboard which eliminates any sense or acceleration.
The 10-speed automatic Mustang is quick to reach its manufacturer-restricted top speed of 157 miles per hour. It reaches the triple-digit speed in just 25 seconds. We can only see the speedometer moving upwards as the digital tachometer moves back and forth between shifts. Although the car is thrilling, the interior view of the car during top speed runs is poor. The V8’s powerful exhaust sounds great throughout.
Let’s face it, this Mustang GT from Hennessey isn’t the last we’ll see. We’ll be seeing the Mustang GT from Hennessey again. These videos are merely baseline measurements before the tuner cranks up the horsepower and performance. We won’t be waiting long, hopefully.
