Here’s how Chip Foose would redesign BMW’s new grille

This is a real improvement?

Yes, that’s it – BMW’s new grille. It’s something we have discussed so many times, that it almost became boring. It is a fact that the more you look at it, especially in real-life, the easier it becomes to accept. It is not to love it but to learn to live with it.

Famous designer, John Dewey, has created a new version of the kidney grille based on the design for the all-new BMW M3. The redesign does not include the grille, but also the front fascia of this performance sedan.

Foose explains in the video at the top that the side view is good for the new M3. He also says it says “this M3” but the front is “not like the M3” and “the rear is also a departure.” Foose says that this will require significant changes to the front design. He draws inspiration from earlier models.

Although it isn’t spectacular from all angles, the result is not as bad as the M3. We like some of the details, such as the integrated amber running lights in the bumper’s lower section. We can’t overlook some details, such as the smaller grilles located below the main grilles. They are flanked with smaller air diffusers.
