Toyota Motor North America released their December 2019 and Year-End sales reports. The total number of vehicles sold by the Japanese brand was 2,383,349 The marque saw a 1.8 percent drop in sales, both in terms of volume and daily selling rates, despite the large number.
Also, it’s notable that Toyota’s car sales have fallen by 4 percent in 2019 compared to 2018. Except for the Corolla, Toyota saw a 4 percent drop in sales. A 0.2 percent increase in sales for the compact car was achieved by the hatchback model’s best-ever performance with a 5.2 percentage increase.
However, the huge Toyota SUVs did well in 2019, with 882,162 units, compared to the 875,372 units in 2018. The RAV4 was the leader in this, with a 4.9 percent increase in sales. The RAV4 Hybrid ended 2019 with a 92.3 percentage increase in sales year-over-year.
The pickup truck division of Toyota suffered some losses. The Tacoma did better with 248,801 units sold in 2019, but the Tundra suffered a dip of 5.6 percent which resulted in a decrease of 0.9 percent in total Toyota pickup sales compared to 2018.
