Himalaya is a South Carolina-based specialist in custom Land Rover Defenderbuilds and one-offs as well as restoration. It’s great to see more Land Rover aftermarket companies show their products. The Defender is a very popular vehicle, and the 2020 model will be unveiled soon. Himalaya has a limited-edition Spectre Defense, which is inspired by the James Bond film. Price: The price? A cool $250,000.
The Spectre Defender is a crew cab pickup, and follows the layout with body panels and frames sourced in England. It is unique because Himalaya is well-known for its blend of American interiors and British styling. Every project starts with a brand-new frame that is sourced from the UK. It is strengthened and galvanized to resist corrosion. The engine’s 182 horsepower, 3.9-liter V8 was replaced by a GM LS3 motor that produces 525 horsepower. A six-speed GM sourced automated transmission is also integrated into the engine and all-wheel-drive transfer case. There are also other options, such as a Cummins 2.8 liter turbo diesel or an LS3 with a Whipple Supercharger.
The Spectre Defender comes with Toyo mud-terrain wheels that are 37 inches in diameter, upgraded Wilwood discs and a Brembo braking system. It also has beefed-up steering components from a Jeep Wrangler. Four inches of clearance are provided by custom coil springs, and Fox Racing remote reserve shocks.
Flared wheel arches, roof mounted lights, custom door handles and retracting power steps are just a few of the exterior features. You’ll find the inside with an extensive leather treatment, an alcantara headliner and Exmoor interior LED lighting. A Kenwood head unit and JL Audio speakers are the key to an upgraded sound system.
