The livestream will begin at 8 PM Eastern/ 5 PM Pacific.
Dewey Wilkerson stated in Malcolm in the Middle that “the future is now,” and Honda will not be setting up a livestream on YouTube or its own website like other automakers did back in the day. Instead, Honda will introduce the new Civic on Twitch. Although the prototype version of the compact sedan will be shown on the live streaming platform, the final product should look almost identical.
Honda claims that the eleventh-generation Civic will “raise the standard for style, performance and safety in the compact-car marketplace.” The lineup will include a sedan and a hatchback, as well as the Si and R models. A manual transmission will be available for those who like to drive their own gears.
The exterior design is well-known from spy shots, teasers and leaked patent photos. The 2022 Civic will likely have a more traditional design, borrowing styling cues from the larger Accord. The interior might also have been shown in some of the photos that “escaped”, although many parts were missing.
The Civic five-door model is still available in Britain, but the British plant is closing. Honda will therefore build the hatch in North America. It was easy to make the Type R’s engine in Ohio. Hatchback sales account for about half of all Civic sales in North America.
The livestream will begin at 8 PM Eastern (Pacific Time), but the actual 2022 Civic Prototype unveiling is set for 9:45 PM Eastern (Pacific Time). MonsterDface and Rachel Seltzer will host the digital event, along with four Fortnite players and four other top Twitch streamers. Cordae, a Grammy-nominated recording artist, will also make an appearance on the livestream.
