The Honda Civic Type R stands alone as an impressive machine. It produces 306 horsepower (228kilowatts) from the factory and 292 pound feet (395 Newton-meters). This gives it the ability to run at 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 5.4 seconds. Hondata tuning, however, is only able to use these figures as a starting point.
The shop created a tuning package to give the Civic Type R an extra horsepower. The FlashPro kit’s 91-octane tune, which adds 33 horsepower (24 kW), 39 lbft (52Nm) to the Type R, brings the total performance to 339 HP (252 kW) & 331 lbft (448Nm) respectively. Hondata claims that 93 octane fuel can give you even more power. The tune produces an additional 47 hp (35kW) and 72 Lb.-ft (792 Nm), respectively, which brings the horsepower to 350 (260kW) and the torque to 364 Lb-ft (493Nm) from the stock.
Hondata’s second major Civic tune has been released since the 10th-generation was introduced two years ago. We saw last year a Civic with an additional 35 peak horsepower (26 kW), and 60 peak pounds-feet (81 Nm) of torque, thanks to a Hondata tune. This brings the total to 225 HP (167 kW) as well as 254 pounds-feet (344Nm) of torque. It is a fraction of what the Si costs. The Hondata tune is available for purchase by Civic Type R owners at a price of $695 via the company’s web site. For the same $695, you can get the same tune for the standard Civic on the Hondata site.
