Honda Project P is a 165-MPH Civic Type R Pickup

It is possible to see it at the Nurburgring soon.

The Honda Civic TypeR, the latest generation, is not only the fastest front-wheel-drive vehicle at Magny-Cours but also one the fastest pickups on the planet today. You read that right – a Civic Type R pickup truck was built by a specialist from the UK plant of the automaker in Swindon. It was unveiled at the SMMT Test Day in Great Britain.

To create Project P, the team used a preproduction prototype of the hot-hatch, which was unveiled nearly a year ago. It features two doors and two seats and a flatbed loading space behind the seats.

The rear fixed wing is preserved by the transformation. It is actually not fixed. The rear fixed wing has a mobile design that allows access to the small pickup’s load bed. The triple exhaust pipes at its back are another favorite feature of the Type R. The entire body is finished in Rallye Red. This is one of the factory colors for the Civic Type R hatch.

Alyn James, the project leader, says that there is a special projects section at the factory in Swindon. This project gave the team an opportunity to showcase their creativity and was a great way for them to demonstrate what they can do. Our latest creation shows the passion of our engineers for Honda. We are even looking at taking it to the Nurburgring in order to break the record for front-wheel drive pickup trucks.

Because the Project P has the same powertrain, suspension and gearbox as the standard production Civic Type R, the team should not have any trouble setting a new record at The Ring. It will also have an acceleration time of under six seconds, a top speed of more than 165 mph (265 km/h).

Honda does not intend to mass-produce the model, it is obvious.
