The cute Honda Urban EV Concept was a hit! We loved it at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and we are thrilled to announce that the production version of this vehicle will be available for purchase in early 2019.
Here’s Philip Ross, Senior Vice President, Honda Europe, confirming: “A production model of this highly-acclaimed concept will be introduced in Europe during late 2019 and, in response to positive feedback about this model, we expect that we will open order banks for Urban EVs during early 2019.
This is all the Japanese company can announce right now. However, if the study from last year is any indication, this model will be one of the most interesting and attractive on the market. The Frankfurt show car featured a minimalist, but sophisticated exterior design that was retro-inspired and small in size. It is actually smaller than the Jazz supermini.
The concept’s cabin continues to be minimalistic with two benches, a large dashboard with simple design and a wrap-around display that extends past the dash into the doors. Although you won’t see this display in a production vehicle yet, the study provides a glimpse of the interior.
Honda ‘s first fully-electric or hybrid model will be the Urban Electric EV. By 2025, electric technologies will account for two-thirds (or more) of Honda’s European sales.
