SDCC is online for the year, but Hot Wheels has not stopped.
If it were a normal year, more than 100,000 people would be crowding the San Diego Convention Center for the San Diego Comic-Con. 2020 is not a typical year. The in-person activities have been canceled. However, the show must continue. Many online events and panels have been scheduled, including the Hot Wheels panel earlier today.
Hot Wheels has always offered Comic-Con exclusives. Two homages to blockbuster Hollywood movies are included this year, including a cool-o XWing diorama from Star Wars and Hulk riding on the back of a Land Rover in Avengers Endgame. Hot Wheels’ video panel revealed several sneaks, which are essentially previews of future offerings. The clip can be viewed below if you missed it.
These sneaks are not about traditional Hot Wheels cars, but rather on unusual machines with themes that range from Japanese pop culture to videogames, children’s toys, and many more. We aren’t sure how Hot Wheels enthusiasts will react to the new line. Car buffs love Hot Wheels in all sizes and shapes. Rugrats Chuckie, the beach buggy, is a cool car that’s based on a theme. Bruce, the toothy shark, is also available. Finding Nemo Recreated as a 6×6 bodacious 6×6 Snow White Get a 1930’s elegant coupe You won’t be able to get enough of it! Hello Kitty Soon, there will be no less than three cars with characters.
There are four cool cars with Overwatch themes. Video games are also included in the mix. A wide variety of Mariokart games are available, while Hot Wheels will bring He Man to life in the form a wild off-road muscle car. The nemesis Skeletor returns to him in the form a strange rat rod.
Finally, Comic-Con is not complete without superheroes. Hot Wheels showed two concepts for the Wonder Woman 1984 flic within the DC universe, in addition to the Avengers Endgame special. A Mercedes AMG GT receives a futuristic makeover for Marvel’s Black Widow.
These designs will be available for purchase in the fall or spring 2021. For a glimpse of the future, take a look at our photo gallery.
