How can a Lamborghini Huracan evo beat this bad in a drag race?

Amazing things can be done on the drag strip by the Tesla Model S Plaid

Brooks of DragTimes feels that Lamborghinis are falling behind their competitors in straight-line acceleration. He supports the automaker’s plans to use hybrid powertrains for future models. Here’s an example of Brooks’ opinion: A Lamborghini Huracan racing a Tesla Model S Plaid.

The Huracan Evo comes completely stock. The 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 produces 630 horsepower (470kilowatts), and 443 poundfeet (603 Newton-meters), of torque. According to the factory, the coupe can travel 62 miles an hour (100 km per hour) in just 2.9 seconds. It also has a top speed exceeding 202 mph (325 km/h). It weighs in at 3,135 pounds (1.422 kilograms).

The Model S Plaid, on the other hand, has three electric motors at its front and back that produce a total of 1,020 horsepower (761 kW). According to official specifications, the sedan can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.99 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 9.23 seconds.

It’s not surprising that Tesla won with such a large power difference. But the gap is what makes it so remarkable. The Model S Plaid completed the quarter-mile in 9.402 seconds on its first run. The Huracan Evo takes 10.834 seconds. This is a gap of 1.432 second.

The results of the second run are identical. The Tesla completes the quarter-mile in 9.437 seconds while the Lamborghini takes 10.847 seconds. The gap this time is slightly smaller at 1.41 seconds.

The Model S Plaid takes 9.491 seconds for the third quarter-mile. The Huracan Elvo completes it in 10.897 seconds. The difference is 1.406 seconds.

Brooks is correct in stating that the Lambo cannot keep up with Tesla’s quarter-mile speed. But, it is going to be a bit sad that the Lambo will lose the sound of a naturally aspirated V10 with high revving.
