Spoiler alert! A few cones were broken.
Ah, the moose-test. It’s a test where the vehicle is tested for its ability to evade maneuvers. This is similar to when a moose appears suddenly in the middle the street.
For years, the dreaded moose test has been a nightmare experiment. It doesn’t matter if the car being tested comes from a mainstream or luxury brand. If it fails, it fails. It has two popular victims:Toyota Hilux and RAV4 Although the latter almost tipped over, it was still a great success.
The VW Golf 8 was the subject of the moose testing. This video embeded on top was uploaded by km77.com. The popular VW hatchback failed to pass the test at 48 mph (77 km/h). It hit cones while trying to evasive maneuvers and was unable to get back on track for the second swerve.
The Golf 8 managed 43 mph (69 km/h), which was better than the Mercedes CLA Coupe ‘s 41 mph (66 km/h) best performance.
The Golf 8 did worse than its predecessor, however. km77.com conducted a moose test of the Golf 8 in 2017. The best effort was 47 mph (76 km/h), while it did fairly well at 48 mph (77.5 km/h) with only one cone.
Another VW has failed the moose test. The Euro-spec Passat wagon,, did not perform well. It hit several cones during its second swerve at 48 MPH (77 Km/h). The Passat wagon’s best attempt at speed was 45 mph (73km/h), which is much better than the Golf 8’s recent performance in moose testing.
