Although the Honda has more power than the Hyundai, the Hyundai has a dual clutch gearbox that allows it to remain in the powerband.

This is a battle between four-door compact performance cars. The Hyundai Elantra N’s eight-speed dual clutch transmission is able to take on the Honda Civic Type R in drag racing and runs off a roll.

The Elantra N This turbocharged four-cylinder packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. 276 horsepower (206 Kilowatts). NGS stands for “N Grin Shift” and is located on the steering wheel. It temporarily boosts the mill to 286 horsepower (213 kW) by pressing it. It produces 289 pound-feet (392 Newton-meters) of torque. Hyundai claims that the model can reach 60 miles per hour (96 km per hour) with the eight-speed DCT in 5.0 seconds.

A 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder is also available in the Civic TypeR. It produces 306 horsepower (228 kW) and 295 lbft (400 Nm). A six-speed manual is the only available gearbox.

There’s a problem in the first drag race between them. The video host doesn’t know how Elantra N should be launched. Instead of rocketing off from the start, the Hyundai pulls away slowly.

The Elantra N’s owner takes the wheel for the second race. It is his first time driving it so he is comfortable and able to launch the car properly. It’s a race. The Hyundai takes a strong start and leads early. Honda is regaining its lead, however. The Elantra wins the race to the finish.

Next, there’s a race from a 31-mile-per-hour (50-kilometer-per-hour) roll. Things are very close when the race begins. The Honda begins to pull away. The Honda continues to pull away, but the view from the finish line shows that the Civic is winning by one nose.

The last race starts at 62 mph (100 kph). The Hyundai is out of the race this time. The Civic Type R is quick to pull away and the Elantra N cannot keep up.

The host of the video expresses his desire to run the race again with an Elantra N equipped with the six-speed manual. According to Hyundai, the gearbox slows the vehicle to 60 mph and takes 5.2 seconds.
