Although there aren’t any official specs, we know what the upcoming EV will look like.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6, now with its fully uncamouflaged interior and body, finally shows off. The company is focusing on the design of the forthcoming electric sedan for now. Technical information is expected to arrive on July 14.
The Ioniq6 teasers by Hyundai portrayed the vehicle’s potential as an “electrified streamliningr” and they weren’t lying. Its arched body makes it appear like the car is going through the air. It is easy to see the design relationship to the earlier Prophecy concept. We don’t know enough about the drag coefficient of this model to determine how aerodynamic it is.
The front end is minimalist and clean. Each side of the lower fascia has vertical sections. The hood is smooth and the sections that are raised for the headlights lead up to the A-pillars.
The curvature of the roof is highlighted by the arching beltline that runs along the doors’ sides. The doors’ lower section has subtle sculpting. These photos show the vehicle with rear-facing cameras rather than mirrors. The spoke patterns of the wheels are complex and asymmetrical.
The Ioniq 6’s rear end is sporty. The spoiler is located at the bottom of the back window. It is hidden below the spoiler. This ducktail spoiler integrates into the tail’s sculpture. The full-width taillights are square-shaped and pixel-like, lending a retro-futuristic look to the design. The lower fascia features a pair vertical elements that have red and white reflectors. These elements are small and square, which match the other rear lamps.
Hyundai is not providing any details about the interior. However, we can still learn a lot by just looking at the photos. The screens that display the digital instrument cluster and information share one bezel. The dashboard curves upward at the edges to make room for the displays showing the side camera video feed. Below the dashboard is a panel with capacitive buttons that allow you to control the HVAC system.
A two-spoke steering mechanism with capacitive buttons on both sides is available. The wheel’s center is illuminated by four square lights. This is either decorative or functional.
These cabin photos show purple accent lights along the dashboard and blue lighting coming from the lower doors. Because the bright colors might not suit everyone’s tastes, we don’t know if owners will be able to change them.
The Ioniq 6, which is also under the Ioniq5 and Hyundai EV6, rides on the EGP platform. According to reports, the sedan will come with a 77.4-kilowatt hour battery pack. Expect around 300 horsepower (224kilowatts) from the two electric motors. You can also choose from single-motor or more performance-oriented versions.
