Hyundai Kona N Vs VW Golf GTI Drag Racing Is Neck and Neck

Both engines are turbocharged 2.0-liters.

These days, it is common to see two models from different segments sharing the same powertrains. This is what happens with the Hyundai Kona N. It shares the same platform and drivetrain as the larger i30 N.

A new video from the CARR channel on Youtube shows a very interesting drag racing between a Golf GTI model and a Kona N model. The two race on a drag strip not designed for drag racing but that provides good traction for their cars.

Hyundai Kona N Vs VW Golf GTI Drag Racing Is Neck and Neck

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is visible to the left. It’s the Volkswagen Golf GTI, and not the TCR or R edition. The 2.0-liter hot hatch produces 241 horsepower (180 Kilowatts) as well as 273 pound-feet (372 Newton-meters). The dual-clutch automatic transmission allows it to sprint from a standstill up to 62 miles per an hour (0-100 km per hour) in just 6.4 seconds.

The Kona N, however, uses a very similar recipe. The turbo engine is a 2.0-liter turbo. However, the output is slightly higher at 276 horsepower (206 kW) e 289 lbft (392 Nm). The crossover also features a dual-clutch auto gearbox. It accelerates in just 5.5 seconds from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph).

With all these numbers, which car do you think is the best for this drag race duel. This is a close race, one of our closest to recent times, and the winner may surprise you at most a bit.
