Hyundai Product Planner Wants to Reintroduce the Genesis Coupe

Crossovers are the most common vehicle that comes to mind when you hear Hyundai. Since their introduction in the United States, the Tucson nameplates and Santa Fe namesplates have been a major cash cow for the brand. The online debut of the Santa Fe by South Korean automaker Hyundai isn’t slowing down.

The Veloster N is a Hyundai that delivers high-performance performance. The Veloster may not be for everyone, even though it comes in an N-flavored version. A turbocharged four-pot, front-wheel-drive engine isn’t going the distance for some car enthusiasts. Those who have had a passion in cars over the past decade will agree.

Hyundai’s 2010 debut of the Genesis Coupe to the world was an important one. It was the sporty version the Genesis sedan had been launched in the previous year. The Genesis Coupe was a rear-wheel-driven V6 engine with unmistakeable styling that cemented Hyundai’s reputation as a motoring enthusiast.

The Genesis name was a success and became Hyundai’s most luxurious line. However, Hyundai doesn’t seem to be keen on the idea for a rear-wheel drive coupe.

Scott Margason is Hyundai’s director for product planning. He wants to add a spiritual successor the Genesis Coupe. Hyundai will offer a new Genesis Coupe, which is a gasoline-powered sports car and not an electric concept like the Essentia, in a sit-down interview.

Genesis continues to work on its beautiful sedans as well as equally attractive crossovers, despite the current situation. Genesis filed trademarks for GT60-GT90 trademarks in 2015, so all hope is not lost. Let’s hope that these plans are not lost.
