Hyundai adds a lift suspension and solar panel to the roof.
The Hyundai Veloster Grappler Concept hatchback has been completely redesigned. It is now off-road-ready. This wild-looking machine will make its debut at the SEMA show. Unfortunately, the only photo of this custom model is not available at the moment.
To increase ground clearance, this Veloster rides on a raised suspension. A custom brush guard is attached to the front with LED lamps. Now the hood is made of carbon fiber. The rig rides on Method Racing wheels and knobby all-terrain tires. Thule’s roof basket can hold gear and provides additional lighting. A Goal Zero removable solar panel is also included to give you extra power on your adventures.
The Grappler Concept features a roll cage inside and full-sized spare wheels mounted to it. Recaro seats are used by the occupants with houndstooth-patterned upholstery. You can control all exterior lights with a custom switch pattern. The Goal Zero portable power station provides electricity. You can also store a roadside assistance kit and a first aid kit in the interior.
Hyundai only mentions a Borla catback exhaust as a powertrain modification. The company does not specify the engine or transmission that the Grappler uses at this time. The current Veloster N in America is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder. It produces as high as 275 horsepower (205kW) and as much as 265 lb-ft (353 Newton-meters).
Hyundai must release a video of the Grappler Concept driving off-road when it gets its full unveiling. It’s so bizarre to imagine a rock-crawling Veloster, that it would be amazing to see the machine in action.
