This would give Hyundai’s N brand serious recognition.
Hyundai’s N performance division is more than a sub-brand. It is more than a letter. It wants to be easily identifiable. After Hyundai created the N brand, the company quickly began to develop the Veloster N and i30 N – the first Hyundai vehicles to get the sporty treatment. Albert Biermann, former BMW M boss and head of Hyundai’s N Division, stated earlier this year that he and his team are continuing to work on the Racing Midship concept (RM). This is a mid-engined vehicle, first introduced in 2014. It was appropriately named RM14.
There have been two additional versions since then – the RM15 as well as the RM16N. Both were released in 2015, and 2016 respectively. The RM16N has received the most attention. The model received a significant design overhaul over the RM15. Spy photos and video of a camouflaged version were also spotted at the Nurburgring.
Biermann stated that the company would continue to work on the RM program and added that this was only the beginning of the process for such a vehicle. We need to be patient because our sales team isn’t used to selling performance cars. It is not a good idea to distribute too many cars at once. People would not know what to do with a custom-built car if we had started with one.
The possibility of the RM16N entering production is made possible by the existence of dealership networks. If you don’t have anyone on your team who is capable of selling a midengined sports car, it won’t be possible to sell it. It is impossible to build the car and then train your staff. It is important to train your team so that they can sell the vehicle when it arrives. Biermann hinted at the possibility of two additional N models. The RM16N N could be one of them.
