The compact pickup of the Blue Oval looks very rugged and square-jawed.

One image of the 2022 Ford Maverick pickup was allegedly leaked from the company’s Hermosillo assembly plant. The first image was posted on the forum Maverick Truck Club. It shows a single compact truck with no doors. It is seen rolling down an assembly line covered in vinyl camouflage. This is most likely the rumored Maverick pickup. It is reportedly based upon the Bronco Sports small SUV.

When we hear the word “unibody pickup”, our minds often go to the slightly frumpy. Honda Ridgeline Or the bizarre and quirky Subaru BRAT. But the Maverick, if that’s what we are actually looking at here, looks much more traditional. The Ford logo is prominently displayed on the front grille. It blends nicely with turn signals, which are housed in C-shaped headlights. The Maverick will blend in well with the rest of the Ford family.

Ford Truck family, including the tech-centric 2021 F-150 . The Maverick’s front bumper covers are plastic, unlike the Ranger and F-Series. This does not suit its “rugged styling” style. The Maverick appears to be a true unibody with the cargo bed and passenger cabin joined together by a single sheet of metal stamping. We have had good experiences with the trail-ready Bronco Sport Maverick and it seems that the Maverick is capable of delivering on its promises.

This lone, grainy photo is not official but it suggests that Ford is closer to confirming the Maverick rumor through an actual reveal. The Maverick should be equipped with the turbocharged 1.5-liter Inline-Three engine as the Bronco Sports. There is also an option for a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo. For those outdoorsy people who have to carry a mountain bike, camping gear or other equipment on weekends, the former should suffice. The latter would be more suitable for those who plan to do light off-roading and fill up the bed with dense gardening equipment.

The 2022 Ford Maverick should be available in its entirety sometime this spring. Consumer deliveries will begin by the end. Check out the Maverick, and all the other new cars, in our list future cars 2021-2025.
