According to some reports, production begins on February 3.
Chevy Dude is a prominent Youtuber , and Chevrolet salesperson. He often has access to information that isn’t usually available to the public. He claims that the Bowtie has cancelled some 2020 Corvette allocations for dealers. The amount being axed could be as high at 15 to 20%. Chevy appears to have a plan to make ordering a new ‘Vette as easy as possible.
ChevyDude says that the automaker would prioritize cancelling any remaining C8s. If someone has already placed an order for a sports car and is confirmed to be buying it, there is nothing to worry about. If a small dealer is unable to find a customer, or if the shop charges too much for the build slot, it’s possible that the allocations will be cancelled.
According to Chevy Dude, the reason why the allocations were reduced is due to delays in production caused by the strike of the United Auto Workers. Chevy Dude also mentions unspecified “internal problems with the car”.
The good news is that production-spec C8 Corvettes should be in production by February 3. The vehicles are subject to a six-week quality control, but the cars could be ready to transport to dealers as soon as possible, according to Chevrolet Dude. This suggests that customers may be able to get their hands on the first examples the new ‘Vette coupes in March or April. Convertibles may take a bit longer to arrive.
