The US has discontinued all three of the members of the series.
The original Hyundai Ioniq series, one of the pioneering products for electrified mobility, will be discontinued in 2022. The company’s Ulsan plant will cease assembly of all three members in the Hyundai Ioniq series. These products are not to be confused by the Ioniq brands. This last example will be ready for production in a matter of weeks, but customers won’t be able to place orders in North America or other regions.
Although the discontinuation of this series (which includes a standard hybrid, plug-in hybrid and an all-electric model), is not a decision made overnight. Hyundai claims that this decision was made in response to changing customer needs. Hyundai will soon be available in Europe, the only continent where it is already present. Cars for local markets and the whole planet The Ioniq was able to sell 135,692 units, exceeding all company expectations.
The Ioniq was the first vehicle to be built entirely from scratch for three electrified powertrains when it debuted as a production model in 2016. This was a groundbreaking product for Hyundai and the industry. It also paved the way to Hyundai’s new line of Ioniq-branded electrical vehicles. The Ioniq was also one of the first major attempts by the company to develop an autonomous system. It featured a self driving prototype that was displayed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
The Ioniq 5 was the successor to the original Hyundai Ioniq series. It is a highly-efficient, tech-heavy, and advanced electric vehicle that is available globally. The Ioniq 6 is the next chapter of the Ioniq’s journey. It is a zero emission sedan and the Ioniq 7 SUV EV SUV are the following. The Ioniq 5, which was named the 2022 World Car of the Year, continues the legacy of the original Ioniq.
