A French barn finds a staggering 100-car collection, including a rare 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider.
This barn find could be one of the most significant. It includes the rare California Spider (only 37 were made), as well as the 1956 Maserati A6G Gran Sport Frua, and Bugatti 57 Ventoux. Artcurial will auction 60 of the 100 cars at the Retromobile Salon in February. According to auctioneers, the Ferrari could fetch EUR12 million while the Maserati should sell for EUR1.2 million.
Roger Baillon, a French transport magnate, was the owner of the cars. He started building the collection in the 1950s. Two decades later, his business had problems. Baillon sold about 50 cars. The remaining 100 cars were left rusting on an estate in France three months earlier. Artcurial estimates that 60 of the cars are salvageable, and they have a combined value of EUR12-15 millions.
