They will be able to drive hands-free.
Toyota will produce two new, three-row electrified crossovers at the plant in Princeton, Indiana. One model will bear Lexus branding and will be the first to feature the premium marque’s brand.
Toyota has yet to identify the vehicles or give an exact date. According to Toyota, the crossovers were “designed with active Gen Y American Family members in mind.” Each vehicle can seat up to eight people in three rows.
These models will have advanced tech that allows for hands-free driving under certain conditions. Remote parking is also possible. The vehicle can enter and exit a space by using a smartphone from outside the crossover. A smartphone could also serve as a digital key.
Toyota will invest $803,000,000 in the Indiana plant to build these models. This money will be used for tasks such as worker training and retooling. This site will create 1,400 jobs.
The Indiana factory currently constructs the Sienna , Highlander And Sequoia . The site currently has the capacity to produce 420,000 vehicles per year.
According an earlier rumor the next-gen 4Runnerand Sequoia ( rendered over) are expected to debut in 2022, and go on sale for 2023.
The TNGA-K platform will also be home to a new RX. According to an insider, it would be a better-executed three-row family vehicle. In 2023, the next-generation GX should be available.
Toyota is also developing a fully electric crossover. It is known as bZ4X in concept form and will likely be the same name for production. It features an all-wheel drive system, which was co-developed by Subaru. It rides on the eTNGA platform.
