This is the future Infinitis’ face, and it’s quite bizarre.
Infiniti revealed the front of its Detroit-bound Q Inspiration Concept Concept but did so in the most bizarre place. This image was not revealed with much fanfare. It appeared in Infiniti’s annual sales announcement, with no further details about the elegant sedan.
The Q Inspiration Concept is a strange concept. Instead of a traditional grille, the Q Inspiration Concept features a series of tightly packed vertical stripes. It’s difficult to see if these elements are actually part of the engine bay, or if they are just an aesthetic touch. The intakes could be used to cool the engine or as aerodynamic aids. Additional intakes ahead of the wheels give it a sporty look and allow for brake cooling.
The hood’s deep cuts add style. The teaser from an earlier teaser suggested that the inlets at top of the grille are functional aero elements. The headlights with sharp edges look like slashes at the front.
This photo gives a glimpse inside the concept. The cabin is quite plain, with simple benches and seats at the rear. The roof is mostly glass and the pillars are thin should allow for good visibility.
The Q Inspiration Concept is Infiniti’s future design direction and it sure looks exciting. This vehicle is also a preview for its next flagship sedan, which will arrive in a few more years. This Infiniti is a radical alternative to other high-end models like the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8.
Infiniti has not yet provided any details on the powertrain of the concept. However, its design envisions “a shift towards smarter, smaller, and more intrusive powertrains.” This idea could be matched by the firm’s variable compression 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine.
